The island of San Domino

The island of  San Domino, two kilometres long and one and a half wide, is harsh and inviolate. A trip around the island is a small adventure; its rocks, winding paths, caverns and sandy beaches make it like a trip through some dream-world whose centre of attraction is the Bue Marino and Viole caves, in the Arene and Pagliai coves. San Domino is covered with bushes, knots of pine-trees, vineyards, almonds and oranges. In the countryside are the remains of prehistoric graves and age-old cisterns, traces of a past which here seems not so far off.
